For me making art is not linear. My path to the final piece, while often similar is never the same. Some work grows quickly, others stumble as they find their way to fruition. Some need to be buried under other work for months. Only to be seen with new eyes when I uncover them while preparing for a show.
As is the case with Sporozoan Flower. This piece was completed in the midst of my making many Sporozoan Trees. Because it went contrary to the Trees visually I set it aside. Upon finding it in a stack of drawings I realized how fresh and alluring it was.
I am excited for people to see this piece in person in conjunction with the Trees.
